I'm trying to put a border on some text I've drawn (so just plain ink on a canvas, not a text object), and to do this I've been going along with the magic wand and clicking every single letter then using Outline Selection. This works fine, but it is really tedious to do.

What I would like to be able to do is to just wrap-select everything on the current layer, and nothing outside of it. Seems like this would be useful to do and easy programmatically, so I am hoping it exists, but I can't figure it out looking through the docs. I tried just selecting a random spot on the canvas and then inverting selection, and this sort of works, but it doesn't help for letters which have enclosed sections.

EDIT: Solved, I think:

A friend of mine told me how to do it.

with the auto select tool, if you turn off 'Follow Adjacent Pixel' and then have the color margin at 0, it will highlight the entire empty space in your layer.

Once you have all the empty space selected, it's a simple invert. This even works with areas that are enclosed by non-transparent pixels.

I recorded this on my ipad but pc is same. Wrote on a new layer, ctrl-click on thumbnail in layer palette, then turned off the layer and zoomed in to show the selection better. https://imgur.com/a/KjM2QOG

the ctrl-click on thumbnail should make a selection no matter what tool is active.

Example would be having a manga page and replacing all the grey tones with white. The fill tool is useless here, since theres loads of lineart that makse it impossible to replace it using this. Is there a tool which lets me select a color and then replace it with something else, even if theres lineart on it? Afaik photoshop for example has the option to lock the transparancy of black (or however that shit is called) which lets you erase everything but the black lines.
